Ask me anything
yesterday was my first time at the track. at 9 am. on a saturday. ugh. I did a beginner’s training/orientation and it was awesome. when you first get on the track, it’s kind of scary and disorienting because it’s banked, but that works it self out really fast. i also thought i was going to be bored and dizzy from going around and around in a circle but for whatever reason that doesn’t happen.
we did a few warm up laps then did some drills that involved pulling off/ahead and sprints. so much fun. i got extra points for being the only girl and someone told me i was already strong enough to be a good racer and that it was a matter of training and practice. woo!
i went with my friend chris and his messenger friend chad. after the track, chris and i went to the gym and did 20 min of speed intervals, which consisted of 20 seconds of fast spinning to a 10 second dead stop. it was brutal. then we did some strength training and at 4 pm we realized we hadn’t eaten anything since 8 am oatmeal. he’s really intent on making me his workout buddy because we live really close to each other and are training for the track. i think i’ll let him. to be continued…
